Consists of 2 works, Indians of the oaks, originally published in 1931 under title: The Indians and I, and Secrets of the trail. In the first of these two tales a young white boy relates his experiences living with the Kumeyaay, also known as Diegueño, Indians of Southern California and in the second a young girl from the same tribe learns a new kind of medicine when she falls ill and is cared for by a white doctor.
